Edward R. Bradley

Edward Riley Bradley was the embodiment of the American dream; He grew up in poverty only to amount to being one of the wealthiest and most generousmen of all time. A true renaissance man, he worked his way up to the top as an American steel mill laborer, gold miner, businessman, and philanthropist. He was the ultimate horse enthusiast and part owner of Hialeah Race Track in South Florida. A race track proprietor, he was the preeminent ownerand breeder of thoroughbred racehorses in the southern U.S. during the first three decades of the 20th Century.He owned and bred four Kentucky Derby winners: Behave Yourself (1921), Bubbling Over (1926), Burgoo King (1932), and Brokers Tip (1933). He made the cover of TIME magazine in 1934 and in the year 2000, the Florida Department of State honored him as one of their Great Floridians. The commemorative plaque is located here at our saloon. Caesars Palace in Las Vegas bestowed upon E.R. Bradley the title of The Greatest Gambler of all Time.
His life proves that anyone and everyone, no matter your financial or societal status, can be and do anything he desires. The sky is the limit
